Funeral services for Clare Geisenberger Eidt, 81 of Natchez, MS who died Monday, November 18, 2013, in Ridgeland, MS will be Thursday November 21, 2013, at 11:00 am from Trinity Episcopal Church with Rev. Deacon C. J. Meaders and The Rev. Sam Tomlinson, III officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.
Burial will follow Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Eidt was born December 2, 1931, in Natchez, Ms the daughter of Clarence Bernard Geisenberger and Ada Kate Shields Geisenberger. She was a graduate of University of Mississippi where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Mrs. Eidt was instrumental in establishing the Delta Gamma Chapter at Mississippi State University. Her other memberships included Natchez Garden Club, Natchez City Cemetery Association, Trinity Episcopal Church, and attended The Temple B’nai Israel. She was a member of Natchez Historical Society, and Natchez Junior Auxiliary. She was co-owner of Natchez Claims Service. She treasured her time at her Lake St. John property “Asylum”. Mrs. Eidt loved her time with grandchildren and granddogs. She was also a member of various Bridge Clubs and Book Clubs.
Mrs. Eidt is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Lawrence Eidt, Sr., one sister, Harriet Geisenberger Shields, two brothers-in-law Ralph Shields, Jr. and Henry Eidt.
Survivors include one son, David Lawrence Eidt, Jr. and wife Teresa of Hendersonville, NC; one daughter, Kate Shields Eidt of Jackson, MS; four grandchildren, Caitlan Eidt, Abbigail Eidt, Chloe Eidt, Annelise Eidt; two nephews, Ralph Shields, III and Clare Shields both of Vidalia, LA; sister-in-law, Sissy Eidt; brother in law, Edward Eidt and wife Mary all of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Wray Eidt, Michael Eidt, Rusty Marks, Wheeler Parker, Benjamin Shields, Biff Partridge, John Fike and Minor Buchanon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. W. E. Godfrey and Bubba Kaiser.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Acre Day School, Natchez City Cemetery, Natchez Humane Society, or Trinity Episcopal Church.
