NATCHEZ-Funeral services for Nolan Clyde Cavin, better known as “Mr. Clyde,” 84, of Natchez, who died, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, MS, after a brief illness, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ronnie Cosby officiating.
Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville, MS under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service at Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Cavin was born January 16, 1928 in Wilkinson County, MS, the son of Leon Claude Cavin and Evelyn Netterville Cavin. He was employed by John G. Gardner for 35 years as a salesman and later Manager of the Natchez Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company. He was well known in the Beverly Plantation area as a cattle rancher and hay farmer. He was also a member of the 61 South Church of Christ, where he served as treasurer and trustee of the church.
Mr. Cavin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Claude Cavin and Wallace “Ned” Cavin.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Frost Cavin; two children, daughter, Lynn Cavin Baragona and husband, Tommy, of Corinth, MS and son, Clyde Nolan Cavin and wife, Elizabeth Ann McNees Cavin, of Natchez; one brother, John L. Cavin of Woodville, MS; one sister, Ollie Cavin Phipps of Crosby, MS; five grandchildren, Michelle Baragona Sparks and husband, Owen Sparks, of Tupelo, MS, Scott Baragona and wife, Sara Rutledge Baragona of Huntsville, AL, Landon Cavin, Ruston Cavin and wife, Stephanie Wilson Cavin, and Kalyn Cavin and fiancé’, Jordan McElroy, all of Natchez; three great grandchildren, Ashley and Zachary Baragona of Huntsville, AL, and Catcher Cavin of Natchez; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
