ROBERT LEE FLY, Jr.
NATCHEZ-Funeral services for Robert Lee Fly, Jr., 91, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 24, 2012 at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 11 A. M. Friday April 27, 2012 at Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Tidwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, and Friday 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Fly was born March 17, 1921, in Jackson, Tenn., the son of Robert L. Fly, Sr. and Ida Horton Fly. Robert served in the U. S. Coast Guard in WWII. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company after 42 years. Mr. Fly loved to raised tomatoes and vegetables after his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Muriel C. Fly.
Survivors include, one son, Kenneth Fly and wife, Janice; two grandchildren, Ashley Pitt and husband, Allen and Sloan Fly; four great-grandchildren, Kendall Fly, Trenton Fly, Frank Allen Pitt and Lucy Mae Pitt all of Memphis, Tenn; one brother, Buddy Fly and wife Rose of Natchez; his in-laws, Ruth and James Delaney of Natchez; a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be, Sloan Fly, Allen Pitt, Wayne Holmes, Keith Smith, Jim Hilll and Dennis Moritz.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Buddy Fly, James Delaney and Bill Ray Thorpe.
The family wishes to express thanks to Judy and Jim Hill, and Mamie West for their many acts of kindness.
